All In for Growing Deadly Brains — Webinar | 26 May, 1 pm AEST
This National Sorry Day, ARACY and Queensland Kids Partnership join Yiliyapinya Indigenous Corporation for a landmark National Reconciliation Week webinar exploring what happens when brain science meets 60,000 years of cultural knowledge — and communities are trusted to lead.
Yiliyapinya means 'brain' in Wankumara (Galali) Language. They improve brain health in a culturally responsive and contextualised way using tailored neuroplasticity programs, including The Yili Program for youth, Deadly Brains Playgroup for early childhood, Workplace Brain Health for thriving teams, and the soon-to-launch Growing Deadly Brains.
Growing Deadly Brains is a community-led program operating in Queensland that trains Brain Health Coaches, develops free learning resources, and supports First Nations children to thrive in their earliest years, resulting in healthier children, stronger families, and young people staying connected to school, community, and culture rather than entering child protection or justice systems.
Speakers include
• Justine Reid, Director of Engagement and Partnerships at the National Commission for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People.
• Sheryl Batchelor, CEO of Yiliyapinya Indigenous Corporation;
• Rhi Parsons, Project Manager of Growing Deadly Brains,
• Jessica Oostenbroek, ARACY Director and QKP Board Member.
Unfortunately, Commissioner Sue-Ann Hunter can no longer join us.
Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of what brain science says every child needs to thrive, why culture is a powerful vehicle for delivering it, and what each of us can do to support communities to lead.
