MCaFHNA inaugural Executive Officer appointment

The MCaFHNA Board is delighted to announce that following an extensive recruitment process, Karen Gates has been appointed as our inaugural Executive Officer.

Karen Gates is a nationally recognised maternal, child and family health nurse leader with more than 30 years’ experience across state and local government, health services and specialist paediatric care in Victoria. Her experience spans policy influence, workforce development, consumer partnership and cross government reform. Karen commences as Executive Officer of Maternal, Child and Family Health Nurses Australia (MCaFHNA) on 25 May 2026, bringing deep sector knowledge, political acumen and a strong commitment to advancing the profession nationally.

The Board looks forward to working with Karen as we continue to grow member value; amplify the national voice of maternal, child and family health nurses; influence policy and reform, and strengthen the future of the profession across Australia.
